Death Angel “The Evil Divide” Album Review

Death Angel has rarely, if ever, disappointed with their music. Every album they have released has been blistering thrash-filled awesomeness. The same holds true for their latest release The Evil Divide.

The first track, “The Moth,” is the perfect representation of the album as a whole. It starts off with some very evil sounding chords, letting you know just how great it’s going to be. It’s melodic and not super fast. It does however have some lazy, even predictable writing at certain points in the song, but these moments are easy to get past. The song itself is amazing.

After “The Moth,” it takes a faster turn, going into more classic thrash riffs. The third song, “Lost,” perfectly combines speed, melody, and technicality to make an almost perfect song.

The album itself sounds pretty much the same as most of their past work. It especially sounds similar to the albums The Dream Calls for Blood and Relentless Retribution. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however, it is always nice to see a band branch out with their sound and try some different things. After three albums of similar production, and structure, it starts to sound repetitive. Again, this isn’t a bad thing. The album by itself is very good, but compared to their past work, is very similar.

Overall, “The Evil Divide” is a very solid album. If you’re looking for a straight forward thrash album, look no further, this will certainly satisfy your needs.

Final Rating 7.5/10
